When we first decided to host Kin Games, we had a clear vision. Our vision of how we wanted to run this conference was packed with countless academic, athletic, spirit, and dance challenge ideas. Our logo was set, our pitch ready – everything was falling into place.
Except for one key piece: the theme.
Choosing the right theme was tough. Kin Games has had incredible themes in the past: KINmunity, Unity Through Diversity, Strength in Numbers, Kinnected, KINships, Together At Last. Each year’s theme served a larger purpose – to unite the community, not just for networking or unique post-secondary experiences, but to build a family. A family that recognizes where we come from, and understands that our differences connect us more than they divide us.
Every time we returned to Kin Games, we were met with this deep sense of belonging – a feeling we couldn’t quite explain. It wasn’t until one late night of planning, with a Stella Artois in hand, that the realization came to us: the essence of Kin Games goes beyond competition. It’s about creating an inclusive environment that celebrates our differences, a place that feels familiar.
That’s when it clicked.
This year, we aim to carry forward this legacy of inclusivity and connection, reminding us all why we keep coming back. Because at the end of the day, Kin Games feels like home.
