
Kinesiology Games 2025 Policies, Code of Conduct, Release of Liability, Assumption of Risks & Participant Waiver Form
As a Kinesiology Games 2025 (Kin Games) participant I understand and acknowledge that there are potential risks inherent in my involvement in Kin Games, held from Wednesday, March 12th to Saturday, March 15th, 2025.
I freely and voluntarily accept and assume all such risks, dangers and hazards, as well as the possibility of personal injury, arrest, violence, or property damage or loss during my participation or presence at the event and resulting from activities taking place during the event. I declare that all decisions taken during my participation in the event are made freely and without any pressure from third parties.

In addition, I accept my responsibility to abide by the policies and code of conduct set out by the 2025 Kin Games Planning Committee. I hereby fully and forever release and discharge Kin Games from, and expressly waive, any and all liability or claims that may arise from my participation in the Conference. I also commit to respecting any directives and consequences given by the Planning Committee, which could include denying entry or participation to any activity during day or night events.

By accepting this waiver I am committing to abide by the following rules, expectations and guidelines:

1. Conference wristbands given out at registration are required for all Kin Games sanctioned events and are to be worn by participants at all times while in both daytime facilities and social events. If there is a problem with the wristband or it is damaged, I am to keep the wristband and contact the committee immediately.

2. All participants should be conscious of the fact that they are representing themselves, their university, and the Kin Games as a whole, and thus you’re expected to act in a respectable manner at all times. This is expected of you whenever interacting with other schools, committee members, ambassadors, volunteers and any other venue or hotel staff & guests.

a. Noise is to be kept at an appropriate level indoors within the campus of Mount Royal
University, The Westin Calgary, and whenever adventuring around the City of Calgary.
​
3. It is expected that hotel rooms, common areas, social venues and other host facilities are to be left in the same, or better, condition found upon arrival. Offending individuals will be held responsible for any damage or destruction of property. I understand that if any property is stolen or damaged while in my possession, will result in my responsibility to pay for the replacement/repair costs.

4. There is a zero tolerance policy towards alcohol consumption on any Mount Royal University property. All bags and liquid containers will be checked upon entering the gymnasium. If alcohol is found, it will be confiscated immediately and your bracelet is at risk of being cut. Please note: Illegal drug use will not be tolerated at any time during the event, and may result in expulsion from Kin Games.

5. All participants are expected to fully participate in competitions and social activities in the spirit of the games and embody characteristics of sportsmanship and recognition of diversity and inclusion. Any use of profanities, derogatory, racist, sexist, hateful content in cheers, chants or any other communication will result in appropriate punishment. Furthermore, participants should promote a safe, consensual, equitable, and harassment-free environment with respect to other participants, ambassadors, volunteers, committee members, and especially facility staff and the general public.

6. Participation in competitive and social events grants permission for the use of one’s image in any future Kinesiology Games publications and promotional materials. I consent to the Organization’s use of my name, image, and email address, in perpetuity unless otherwise specified. Use of the Kin Games organizational logo or the Kin Games 2025 MRU logo and brand shall not be associated with alcohol, drugs, nudity or any other questionable behaviour.

By accepting the terms and conditions of this waiver I am confirming that I am aware that:

I understand that the Kin Games can be physically strenuous and inherently dangerous, may expose me to a variety of foreseen and unforeseen hazards and risks, and that there is a chance that I may be hurt during, or as a result of my participation in Kin Games. I acknowledge that I am voluntarily participating in Kin Games and have considered those risks. I expressly and voluntarily assume all risk of death or personal injury sustained while participating in the activities whether or not caused by the negligence of Kin Games, its directors, officers, employees, members, sponsors, volunteers, agents, or any person, organization, firm, partnership or other entity, for whom Kin Games is legally responsible. I confirm that I am in good health, in proper physical condition, and do not have any medical or other conditions that would impair my ability to participate in Kin Games, or have disclosed said conditions with the Planning Committee beforehand.

Failure to follow the rules and regulations of the event as set forth by Mount Royal University Staff, The Westin Calgary, any other affiliated venue or facility, and the 2025 Kin Games Planning Committee may result in the exclusion of individuals and teams from competition at daytime events and attending social events.

I am waiving my right to sue or hold any individual person or organization as a whole liable for any physical or mental harm that is incurred over the weekend. These entities may include: the Kinesiology Games organization, the Kin Games 2025 Planning Committee, ambassadors, volunteers, sponsors or any organization affiliated with the event. I claim full responsibility of my actions, whether they be negligent, reckless or willful misconduct in connection with my participation in the Conference.

In addition to the aforementioned policies applying to all host facilities, the local, provincial and federal laws apply. Failure to comply with any of the listed policies may result in eviction from the hotel, removal from events, disqualification, and removal of competition privileges for the individual’s respective team. Additional civil or criminal penalties may apply.

I certify that I am 18 years of age or older and that by selecting “yes” on the registration form I acknowledge that I have read and fully agree with the policies above and agree to be held liable for any consequences that result from not following the policies listed above. Including the right to sue or claim compensation, agree with the policies above, and the terms of this release of liability, waiver
of claims, and assumption of risks.
